We are pleased to announce that following the acquisition of the Himar business Dr Binny Todd will be joining us as Technical Services Manager. Binny has 20 years of experience in the chemical industry and we are confident that she will significantly contribute to the technical support which we can offer to our customers.

Acquisition

8 November 2006

We are pleased to announce the purchase of the Pulp & Paper, Personal Care & Household and Chemicals for Industry business divisions of Himar Performance Specialties Ltd.

As a major supplier of surfactants, oleochemicals, fragrances, and specialty chemicals,  Himar’s products are complementary to many  products in WSB’s specialty chemicals group.

The acquisition of these Himar business divisions by WSB creates a stronger combined speciality chemicals business, with benefits to our UK and overseas customers both from the economies of scale and a broader product portfolio.

Both WSB and Himar are committed to achieving a smooth and seamless transfer and WSB will ensure continuity of supply of the Himar product brands, now and in the future.

We are pleased to welcome our new customers and suppliers.

ADM Specialty Ingredients appoints WSB

ADM have appointed WSB to be their exclusive distributor in the UK and Ireland for their range of lactic acids and lactates for industrial markets.

We are pleased to announce that David Flood has joined us as Business Development Manager. David has worked in the chemical industry for many years, mainly with multi-national organisations including Rhodia.

Elementis appoints WSB

Elementis Specialties BV have appointed WSB as their exclusive UK Distributor for their range of Surfactants and Rheology Additives to specific industries.

The Surfactants business in Delden, Holland was acquired from Sasol Olefins & Surfactants in July 2005. WSB has been distributing the Delden range of Surfactants for several years.

The addition of the Rheology Additives will complement the Surfactants business and broaden the range of specialty chemicals available from WSB.

The rheology products are marketed under the global registered trade names of BENTONE, RHEOLATE and THIXATROL and supported by a technical applications unit in Cologne, Germany.

Penn White appoints WSB
Penn White Ltd of Congleton, Cheshire have appointed the company to be
distributors of silicone oils, silicone emulsions, wax emulsions and other
speciality products

Personnel
We are pleased to announce that Russell Banham has been recruited to strengthen our sales team. Russell is a Chemistry Post Graduate from Nottingham University.

New Distribution Arrangement
On 1st July 2004 Sasol Olefins and Surfactants GmbH transferred its Servo business in the Netherlands to Elementis Specialties Inc. WSB is pleased to confirm its continuing business relationship with the new Elementis Specialties Inc.

---News from 2003---

Disposal of F Holm Chemie Handels GmbH
In November 2003 we sold our investment in our subsidiary company to Taiko Marketing (S) Pte Ltd, a company incorporated in Singapore. This will enable us to focus upon and develop our core activity in the United Kingdom.

Appointment as distributor for International Flavours and Fragrances (“IFF”)
We are pleased to announce our appointment as IFF’s distributor for fragrance compounds in the United Kingdom and Ireland with effect from 1 August 2003. The appointment will create a partnership which will enable IFF to provide customers with improved levels of flexibility and service combined with the creativity and innovation of the IFF perfumers.

Appointment as distributor for Sasol Olefins and Surfactants GbmH
In June 2003, the company was selected by Sasol Olefins and Surfactants GmbH as their distributor in the United Kingdom and Ireland for their range of products in the Personal Care, Leather & Textile, Solvents & Metal Process, Agriculture, Mining, Oil Field, Paper, Water and Industrial sectors.

New Distribution Contract for FORCHEM Oy
In January, the company was appointed UK Distributors for Distilled Tall Oil and Tall Oil Fatty Acids produced by new Finnish company FORCHEM Oy. These products are refined from Crude Tall Oil, a by-product of the paper making process. Amongst other things, they are used as chemical intermediates, lubricants, and in soap making.

Personnel

On 21 July Sharon Owen joined us as Sales Administration Supervisor. She has extensive experience with a leading German chemicals company.

On 1 July Ian Mitchell, who joined the company last year, was promoted from Key Accounts Manager to become Marketing Manager.

On 1 July, Jo Sugden assumes the role of Customer Service Supervisor with special responsibility for fragrances and small accounts.

David Squires retired on 30 June from his role as Commercial Manager. He joined WSB as Commercial Manager following our acquisition of the business of Pointing Chemicals Ltd. We wish him a happy retirement after 15 years of services.

Geoff Goodes joined the company as Fragrance Consultant on 3 March following 30 years of experience in the Fragrance Industry.

People
In July 2002, Ian Mitchell joined the company to take up the position of Area Sales Manager. Ian will be responsible for the Midland UK, including South Wales and Southern Ireland. Ian was fulfilling a similar role with his previous employer and prior to that has worked for major chemical companies including Laporte, Albright and Wilson, and Condea. He brings with him a wealth of 20 years experience in both oleochemicals and surfactants.

Product update

We can now supply "Farmin" Tertiary Amines of Alkyl Dimethyl and Dialkyl Methyl types. Alkyl dimethyl types can be produced to any alkyl chain or blend of alkyl chain. Dialkyl methyl type amines are used principally as intermediates in the production of quaternary ammonium compounds, amine oxides and betaines, all widely used in the detergent industry.

Agency
A marketing arrangement has been agreed with Illinois-based ADM Ingredients with regard to Ethyl Lactate, the environmentally friendly solvent ester.

People
Brian Moate has joined the company as an executive director. He has extensive experience in the chemical industry, especially oleo chemicals, and will enhance the company's presence within the sector.

On 31 March 2002 Roger Tirrell left the company in order to pursue a unique career opportunity in the Far East, and we wish him well in his future role. Aspects of Roger's work will be taken over by various members of the Board, including parent company directors, who will deal with certain administrative functions.

Re-accreditation confirms WSB's commitment to Quality
Quality and customer focus have always been a number one priority for WSB, so it is pleasing to announce that we have recently been re-accredited by BVQI to the new ISO 9001:2000 Quality standard. The new standard replaces the 1994 document, and includes a requirement for demonstrations and evidence of continual improvement, customer satisfaction and an emphasis on good internal communication.

People
Gordon Smith, previously Business Development Manager, has been appointed as a Director of the company.

WSB retains distribution contract
Following the acquisition of BBA by IFF, The White Sea and Baltic Company are pleased to announce that they have been retained by IFF as UK distributor. We see the decision to retain WSB is an indication of the confidence that IFF have in our capability to support products and customers in the UK and as such we are delighted to work with them.

Improved Storage facilities
Willington Group have recently expanded their storage facility in Hull to include a 10,000sq ft state of the art warehouse. This means that, as part of the Willington Group, WSB now have improved access to storage in the UK.

Coconut fatty acid 12/18
In addition to our existing coconut fatty acid 8/18, we now offer customers coconut fatty acid 12/18 for use in soaps and detergents. A useful addition to our range, this is fully kosher and GM free and is available from ex bulk store in Rotterdam, guaranteeing immediate availability for customers.

Modified Tapioca Starch
In association with Tomen, one of the largest Japanese chemical companies, WSB are offering Modified Tapioca Starch to its customers. A versatile thickening agent, it is used in products ranging from pet foods to home and personal care products. For further details, please contact us.

---News from 2000---

Dec 2000: Pointing Chemicals acquired by White Sea and Baltic
With effect from December 20th 2000, WSB acquired the assets and business of Pointing Chemicals a well known distributor of surfactants, biocides, fine and industrial chemicals. This marks a significant step forward for WSB bringing a wide range of high quality products to augment our existing portfolio plus a group of high calibre people both of which will will move our company forward and help in its future growth.

Nov 2000: White Sea sells Animal Feed Business
As of November 27 2000, WSB has divested its animal feed fat blending business, this will allow the company to focus fully and completely on our core activity and concentrate all our resources into chemical trading and distribution.

Aug 2000: White Sea and Baltic acquire F Holm Chemie Handels GmbH
In August 2000 WSB acquired Hamburg based trader Holm Chemie. Holm's range of oleo chemicals are a perfect fit with WSB enabling us to consolidate purchasing and to offer a Europe wide service at competitive levels to our customers.
